Over the years, our employees and our business units have led the way in social responsibility by participating in many important charities including Kids Cancer Foundation of Alberta, Kids Help Phone, Make-A-Wish Canada, and Habitat for Humanity.
Our official corporate charity is the United Way. We began our involvement with the United Way in 2003 through Toromont CAT. Since then, our employees and company have made growing monetary investments in this important cause and donated time and skills.
We believe that supporting United Way is a great way to give back to our communities because, as a cause, it reaches many different people and cuts across a broad spectrum of society. In addition, it encourages teamwork and has become part of the Toromont culture.
Founded in 1887 in Denver, Colorado, United Way came to Canada in the 1930s. Today, there are 122 United Ways in Canada, 1,400 United Ways in the U.S. and United Way International has more than 250 affiliate fundraising organizations.
